50829 2021-06-28 to 2021-08-06 Examines three federal laws that form the foundation of disability law: Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA) 2004; Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act of 1973; and the Americans with Disabilities Act. Focuses on substantive principles that underlie procedural requirements including due process issues, case law analysis, policy changes and the creation of a legally defensible Individual Educational Program (IEP). Tara Maltby 3.00 This course has 3 synchronous Blackboard Collaborate sessions: Wednesdays, June 30, July 14, July 28 from 5:30 tp 7:00 PM. Prerequisites: Praxis I, and to have successfully completed an introductory-level course on special education, experience with students who have disabilities, and an understanding of childhood development.
