Our online paralegal degree program is approved by the American Bar Association, which requires that at least nine credits have synchronous class meetings. These courses use online video conferencing at times convenient to the class.

Deana Waters

Welcome to the Paralegal Studies program! The program was started in 1992 by Ed Husted, who retired as program director in 2015, but continued to teach until 2023. The curriculum is approved by the American Bar Association, and fewer than 25% of paralegal education programs have achieved this status. This was one of the first approved programs to offer a 100% online curriculum. I will be your primary advisory and teach six courses you will have to complete. This means I am there from your first to your last class, to support your learning journey, to track your progress through the degree and to provide guidance as you enter the workforce. The need for qualified paralegals is expected remain steady in the future. Employment opportunities including working in the private sector for law firms or individual attorneys; in the public sector for the court system, district attorney, public defender agency or local, state and federal legal departments and tribal government; and in corporate legal departments. The skills learned in this program easily translate to other occupations, such as claims adjuster, case manager, legislative aide, mediator, compliance officer, investigator, medical record manager, financial services, human resources manager, or any other occupation that requires organization, critical thinking and attention to detail.
