COMMUNITY/PROFESSIONALS
If you are registered for a CLEP test or other professional certification or licensure exam, you'll continue to use our testing room located in the Bunnell Building Room 122. More information
As a national test center, eCampus Testing Services administers paper-and-pencil and computer-based exams for current and prospective students.
To take a proctored test, follow these two steps: First, fill out a request form. Second, if you’re in Fairbanks, schedule an appointment; if you’re outside Fairbanks, choose an approved proctor or submit a proctor approval request.
Step 1. Request UAF eCampus course exam
This step is to request to take a proctored exam for your eCampus online course in our exam room or with an approved proctor.
If you live in Fairbanks, North Pole, Salcha, or Fox, please select “In Fairbanks” at our testing center. After you submit the registration form, you’ll receive an email with a code that you can use to schedule an appointment to take your exam (step two below).
If you are not within driving distance of Fairbanks, select “Outside of Fairbanks,” and you’ll be able to choose from approved proctors. You also have the option to select “Other: Submit Proctor Approval Request” and have a person in mind who meets proctor requirements. You will need their name and email address. Once we receive your request you will get email confirmation. You do not have to complete step two below.
Step 2. Make appointment to take your exam in Fairbanks
- Click on the “Schedule appointment” button below to see all UAF eCampus course exams and the Library Skills exam.
- You’ll see a list of Exam Groups, including the UAF eCampus Course Proctored Exam, ALEKS Placement, UAA, and UAS eLearning Course Exams, etc.
- If you choose “UAF eCampus Course Proctore Exam,” you need to select the COURSE and specific EXAM.

Placement scores provide your program advisors information they use to better support your success as you progress through your academic program.

ALEKS is a web-based assessment system that provides an initial assessment for math placement, and an opportunity to practice and retest to improve your placement before you enroll. ALEKS placement is required before you will be allowed to register in a math course at UAF.
- ALEKS can be taken anytime, on any computer with an internet connection at https://alaska.edu/aleks.
- Use ALEKS Placement Course Code WD3JY-DFN34
- You need a pencil, paper, a computer with internet access, and up to two hours to complete 20-30 questions. The ALEKS test is adaptive, so no time is wasted answering questions you don’t understand.
- Once you start you have up to 3 hours to complete the placement test.
- You may retake ALEKS up to four times.
- There is no charge.
- Results are available immediately, along with a detailed breakdown of your skills and instant access to online tutorials for skill improvement.
EdReady – Reading and Writing Placement

3. If you didn’t get the score needed for the course you want to take, continue working on the study path in EdReady to improve your score.
- Allow about 45-60 minutes to take the assessment the first time. If you decide to follow a study path for a higher placement, do that at your own pace. The assessment will save your progress so that you can return to it anytime.
- You do not need to take this assessment at a testing center or arrange a proctor; it can be taken from any computer with an internet connection.
- There is no charge for the EdReady writing assessment.
- Results are available immediately after you finish the assessment.
- The study paths in EdReady are designed to help you master the concepts needed to both increase your score and succeed in your writing classes.
