Who Can Proctor UAF eCampus Exams?

UAF instructors decide if proctored exams are necessary for their courses, and eCampus Testing Services provides the following guidelines to help maintain the academic integrity of these exams. Before agreeing to serve as a proctor, please read these guidelines carefully. Unless approved by the instructor, proctors must be an impartial third party and cannot be family members, close friends, co-workers, or anyone with a personal connection to the student. 

Proctor Requirements

  • Exam materials will only be sent to the approved proctor’s official business email address (no Gmail, Yahoo, Hotmail etc.)
  • Proctors must have access to a printer and a computer for the student’s use.
  • Exams must be taken in a professional environment, private residences are not permitted without prior approval from a UAF instructor.
  • Proctors must monitor the student for the duration of the exam.

Proctor Responsibilities

  • Store exams and passwords securely.
  • Proctors must enter the password; it cannot be shared with the student.
  • Photocopying exams is strictly prohibited
  • Verify the student’s identity using a government issued ID
  • Follow all exam instructions, to include time limits, allowed materials, returning scratch paper, etc.
  • If  exam procedures are compromised, allow the student to complete the exam but notify eCampus Testing Services at 907.455.2060 or uaf-testing@alaska.edu. Notify the student of the irregularity afterward.
  • Paper exams must be scanned and returned with all materials (cover sheet, scratch paper, etc) immediately upon completion.
  • Retain original exam materials for 60 days to resolve any grade discrepancies, then shred them.
