Exam Services at UAF eCampus

As a national test center, eCampus Exam Services administers paper-and-pencil and computer-based exams for UAF students, prospective students, and the community at large. We serve students with class-exam related needs and professionals seeking credentials.

Students Who Live in the Fairbanks Area

Take a proctored exam for your eCampus online course in our exam room (Bunnell Bldg. Suite 131). These will be mentioned by your instructor in the syllabus, or course management system (usually Canvas or Blackboard).

In Fairbanks, we will have your exam ready for you during the available exam period. We proctor exams for hundreds of UAF students each semester. Your instructor has the link for you to access the scheduling calendar.

We DO NOT accept walk-ins.

If you are applying to UAF please note that due to COVID-19, ACT requirement has been suspended until 2025 for admission purposes only. There may be other reasons you would like to take the ACT.

If you are applying to UAF please note that due to COVID-19, the SAT requirement is being waived until 2025 for admission purposes only.

Library Competency Exam (LCE)

You may need to take a placement test, or to test out of the library sciences requirement. The College Level Examination Program (CLEP) is a national program that awards college credit for introductory courses. You could test for one of these courses and receive credit that will fulfill a UAF course requirement.

Take the Library Competency examination if you wish to challenge LS 100X or LS 101X. There is no credit awarded for passing the test but scoring 70 percent or above substitutes for the  baccalaureate core requirement. Please register by completing the Competency Exam form (PDF). This computer-based exam must be taken in a proctored environment. The fee for the test is $30; you are allowed one retake for an additional $30.

Want to test out of courses? This can save you time, tuition, materials, and related fees.

CLEP

UAF can proctor College Level Examination Program exams; this is a national program that awards college credit for some introductory courses. 

CLEP EXAMS WHICH MATCH UAF COURSE REQUIREMENTS

Costs range from $134-144 that includes the UAF administrative fee. 

  1. Visit the CLEP website to register for the exam and pay their fee.
  2. Bring your registration ticket. 
  3. Schedule and pay for your  proctoring appointment.  
  4. Bring your CLEP voucher with you to your appointment.You will need to know:

    • Available date      
    • Available times
    • Email address   

Receive college credits with DANTES Subject Standardized Tests

UAF offers DANTES Subject Standardized Tests (DSST). Choose from over 30 different subject tests allowing you to receive college credits for learning acquired outside the traditional classroom from reading, on-the-job training, or independent study.

Cost should be $145 including an administrative fee. The $100 DSST test fee must be in the form of credit card payment

UAA & UAS Exams

If you are taking a distance education course within the University of Alaska system (UAF, UAS, UAA, KPC) we can help with most proctoring needs this semester. However, we may not be able to accommodate all non-eCampus exams during peak times like finals week.

Community & Professionals

UAF Exam Services provides credentialing and certification exams for a variety of industries. We work closely with the State of Alaska for 

  • The Alaska Bar Exam
  • Waste and Wastewater testing

eCampus Exam Services can proctor Journeyman exams for:

  • Boiler
  • Electrician
  • Explosive Handler
  • Lineman
  • Plumber

Please work directly with your Coordinator to ensure that you have filled all of your hourly and coursework requirements prior to scheduling your testing appointment.
