UAF eCampus is committed to preventing and removing barriers to accessibility. These are the steps we’re taking.
The WAVE Web Accessibility Evaluation Tool is used to check the accessibility of newly authored pages, in conjunction with other audit tools such as SiteImprove, and the WP Accessibility WordPress plugin. Videos are professionally captioned, and new documents are checked with the Adobe Acrobat Pro Accessibility Checker or the Grackle Docs extension.
In the summer of 2022, several of the eCampus domains underwent significant redesigns. Measures included migrating to a new WordPress Theme, auditing and removing legacy content, and making changes to menus and navigation. Additionally, an AI-powered accessibility widget called UserWay was added to the eCampus website to improve user experience. Accessibility will remain a primary consideration in the ongoing process of website review, design, and maintenance.

The goal of UAF Disability Services is to provide UAF students with access to academic classes and course materials through an interactive accommodation process. Disability Services works with students on the Fairbanks campus as well as on the Bristol Bay, Chukchi, Interior Alaska, Kuskokwim, Northwest, Community and Technical College (CTC), UAF eCampus, and College of Rural and Community Development (CRCD) campuses.
We value an inclusive, welcoming student experience. We strive to accommodate each student in a way that decreases barriers to achieving success within university guidelines and actively seek opportunities to better respond to student needs.
We are a human-centered support unit serving all community members as individuals. Through a constant focus on both innovation and equity, our goal is to continue to work on improvement.
