Q: What do you do at eCampus?

A: My job title is an instructional designer. But I do a lot of different things. Some faculty development, some curriculum development,  but most of my time the last 10 months or so has been centered around planning, building and managing the new makerspace at CTL.

Q: How do you work with students?

A: Most of my work with students has been in the makerspace. I’ve helped a number of students with the sublimation printer to make custom mugs or shirts, using the Cricut to make stickers, or tinkering with the 3D printer.

Q: How can students connect with you?

A: Stop by the makerspace during open hours (Monday-Thursday 12:00-4:00), or email me at zcureton@alaska.edu.

Q: What do you like about working at UAF eCampus?

A: This team is amazing! The devotion to student success is extremely refreshing, and it is such a collaborative team. I love where I work!

Q: What’s your go-to productivity hack?

A: For me it’s the idea of inertia – objects at rest stay at rest, objects in motion stay in motion. Maximizing time away from work is key. It’s easier for me to be productive at work when I am doing things that really bring joy during my time away from work.

Q: What class have you taken that you feel has had the biggest impact on your life?

A: Tough to pick just one on this. But since it’s fresh in my mind, this semester my wife and I took the East Coast Swing/Lindy Hop rec class here and that has been so much fun! Learning a lifelong skill that I will be able to share with my wife the rest of our lives. Can’t recommend this class enough! No experience or partner required.

Q: What hobby or interest do you wish you could get more people into?

A: While I would love to see more snowboarders at Ski Land, I would also circle back to the last question. Dancing is so much fun! And can be done anywhere anytime.
