Preparing for Final Exams

As finals come up, so do the longer nights studying material you may or may not have procrastinated on all semester. Maybe you have a paper due, or maybe you’re already checked out looking forward to the break. The most important thing you can do during this time, to prepare for final exams, is take care of yourself.

Joking aside, studying for finals can be a grueling process. I’ve heard of students having success with Quizlet, completing study guides, and listening back to recordings of lectures. My favorite way to ensure I knew the information I needed as finals approached was not memorizing everything, but more so understanding how to reach any given answer. It won’t work for everyone, but it was great for me.

A good night’s sleep before your final is essential. If you are going to pull an all-nighter on your studying, do it a day or two before so you can get your rest. Make sure you spend a little extra time in the morning getting the breakfast and caffeine you need. Drink water, eat your meals, and make sure to do things for yourself to ensure you are in a good headspace.

We at UAF eCampus Exam Services are committed to helping our students be in the best space possible for any exams. Finals are no different. This semester, that includes offering limited free parking, free water bottles, and the opportunity for more beverages/snacks as our resources allow. If you have any comments, questions, or concerns about finals, feel free to contact us at (907) 455-2060 and we can answer those for you!
